High School Sweethearts the the Knot at a Texas Masquerade

May 11, 2016 Admin

There are a lot of reasons we love playing music for weddings. But if we had to choose a favorite, it might be participating in so many the great stories.

Recently, we got to help a pair of high school sweethearts tie the knot at a Masquerade!

Ashley and Patrick have known each other for a long time. They met when they were just in hight school, taking classes in computer science.

When it came time to head off to college, they went their separate ways, Patrick to UT and Ashley to UTSA. But that bond forged over pixels and keyboards remained strong, and they officially became a couple their sophomore year.

Ashley and Patrick love to travel, and it was during a trip to Italy that everything changed. After seeing the classical art in Florence, they headed the canals of Venice to take in Carnivale. They watched a delightful costume contest and then spent some time wandering around on a bridge where they could get a lovely view of the City of Masks.

It was there on the bridge that Patrick dropped to a knee and asked Ashley to spend the rest of her life with him.

Ashley and Patrick’s wedding took place in January at the Texas Women’s Federation in Austin, Texas. To honor that special day in Venice, they decided the wedding would be masquerade themed.

They chose a string quartet because they wanted the guests to be transported away to the mid-19th century. We had the opportunity to provide the perfect soundtrack with a mixture of classical pieces, like La Vie En Rose, and classic pop ballads like My Girl. Patrick’s favorite moment was the first look he had of her walking down the aisle.

Looking back on the experience of planning a wedding, they have one piece of advice: Don't be afraid to delegate! Instead of doing all the tedious tasks themselves, they wish they had invited others to participate. Ashley says, “I realize now that others care about my sanity would have helped out without complaint.”

As they look, forward Ashley and Patrick can’t wait for a life of growing and learning together. They plan to go scuba diving the barrier reef for their honeymoon, and are excited about taking dance ballroom dancing lessons.

Congratulations Ashley and Patrick!  We wish you a long and happy marriage!
